TIMO MEIER - 9TH OVERALL PICK IN THE 2015 NHL ENTRY DRAFT

With the 9th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft the San José Sharks selected Swiss- born forward Timo Meier from Karlstad.

Breakout year: In 2014-15, Meier (6'1'' and 209 lbs) led Halifax in goals (44) and finished second on the team with 90 points (44-46-90) in 61 games, including a franchise-record 23 power- play goals. He also paced the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and tied for second place in the Canadian Hockey League with 10 game-winning goals.

Meier registered at least a point in 27 consecutive games from Nov. 22 to Feb. 26, compiling 28-23-51 in that span.

Meier has represented Switzerland at the 2015 World Junior Championship.

Meier partnered with projected first-overall pick Connor McDavid at the CHL Top Prospects game in January.

Meier, who is the highest-ranked player from the QMJHL, was named the League’s best professional prospect at their annual Golden Puck Awards and received the Mike Bossy Trophy.
