Paul Dunne wins 2018 Golf Sixes with #TeamIreland
4sports & Entertainment Athlete, Paul Dunne, capped off a terrific 6-week stretch of golf with victory at the 2018 GolfSixes in St, Albans, England on the European Tour.
The innovate golf event consists of 16 two person teams representing their nations and playing over 2 days in matches over 6 holes.
Paul chose his close friend, Gavin Moynihan, to join him and represent Team Ireland for the event. In glorious sunshine, they progressed as the top team from a tough group that included Italy, France and Scotland.
On Sunday, Paul and Gavin won the 4th& 5thholes against the England Women’s team to progress onto the semi-finals against Korea. This close match went to a playoff hole where Gavin chipped in to secure Ireland’s ticket into the Final.
There they played France in a rematch of Saturday’s group match, which France won. This time though Team Ireland were too strong for France winning the match on the 5thgreen. Paul and Gavin had played some fantastic golf over the two days and on Sunday the duo made birdie or better on 12 of the 17 holes they played in the events greensomes format.
Paul’s next event will be the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth.
